The Transformation

The Allies

Marlin has a mental transformation. At the end of his journey, Marlin realizes that Nemo will have to grow up at some point. Marlin becomes more relaxed as a parent.

The Call

Sharing the Gift

The call is when Nemo gets captured by a diver and is put on a boat that is speeding away. That is Marlin realizes he has to save him. The call is voluntary because Marlin decides on his own that he has to find Nemo. Marlin does not initially reject the call because Nemo means everything to him, and he does not hesitate in looking for him.

When they finally meet, Nemo and Dory find themselves stuck in a fisherman's net with a lot of other fish. They work together and lead everyone into the opposite direction of the boat. They are able to break the net and free all the fish.

The allies in Finding Nemo are Dory, Crush, the school of fish, the whale, and Nigel the Pelican.

Dory- Dory is a forgetful fish who finds Marlin at the beginning of the journey. She stays with him for the whole time, aiding him in finding Nemo.

Crush- Crush is a turtle that helps Marlin by carrying him along the East Australian Current (EAC). The EAC takes Marlin and Dory to Sydney, Australia, where Nemo is.

School of Fish- The school of fish in Finding Nemo, are moon fish.They give them tips on how to get to Sydney.

Whale- The whale helps Dory and Marlin by taking them to Sydney.

Nigel- Nigel is a pelican who knows Nemo. He picks up Marlin and Dory when he finds them in the harbor and takes them to Nemo.

The Hero

The Saving Experience

The hero in Finding Nemo, is Marlin. Marlin is a clown fish and lives on a coral reef in an anemone. Marlin has one son named Nemo, who lives with him. He is very overprotective of him because before Nemo was born, Marlin’s wife, Coral, and all of their eggs except one, were eaten by a shark. Marlin is the protagonist, not Nemo, because Marlin changes the most throughout the movie.

The Return

The saving experience is when Dory and Nemo find Marlin. It looks like all is lost because Marlin left Dory and thought that Nemo was dead. However, Nemo was not dead and managed to escape the dentist office where he was confined. Nemo found Dory once he was in the ocean again, and together they found Marlin, completing the mission. Father and son were reunited at last.

Nemo and Marlin finally return to their home in the reef with Dory and Squirt at the end of the journey. Nemo departs the next day to school.

The Preparation

The preparation for Marlin's journey is mental and physical. Marlin prepares himself mentally by convincing himself to trust Dory. Then he physically prepared by finding the goggles with the address on it.

The Road of Trials

Guardians of the Threshold

The first trial that they faced was when Dory got cut on face and Bruce smells the blood. Then he tries to eat her. During their journey, they dropped their only clue and had to face the light bulb fish. Another trial they faced was when they went the wrong way and had to go through hundreds of jelly fish. When they reach their destination, they have to face the seagulls that try to eat them.

Crossing the Threshold

The Guardian of the Threshold was when Dory tells Marlin that she knows the way, but because of her short term memory loss, they wander in circles for a little while. This stops Marlin from starting his journey.

Crossing the Threshold was when the great white shark, Bruce takes them to his shark gathering. This is crossing the threshold because they are entering a new world, and they overcame the guardian of the threshold.
