The dress was just a play on to what Cinna had created for Katniss and Peeta. It 'silently' turned in to a secret beginning to the rebellion. People just didn't realize yet. It doesn't evolve to much beside some irony when she gets burnt by a fireball during the games. 'The Girl on Fire" turns in to her nickname

Name given to Katniss when both Peeta and Katniss rode into the Capitol on fire. She then became known as The Girl on Fire.

Katniss is the spark of the rebellion. When her dress was lit on fire so was the rebellion. She is the one that can end the games and stop the oppression. When the dress caught fire it was the begining of the end to Panem and the games.

The bread is hope. Whenever Katniss sees the bread it is hope. At one point in the games she thew the cookies that the baker made her. They landed right in some dandelions. When she surrounded Rue in flowers she showed district 11 how she felt. For a reward district 11 gave her special bread from their district.

The bread shows up countless times during the book. When Katniss and her family were starving she went around her district looking to sell some of Prim's old baby clothes. That's when she stumbled upon the bakery and Peeta threw burnt bread. She and her family had food and lived. Katniss then pondered if Peeta had burnt the bread on purpose.

Throughout the book dandelions were mentioned quit often. They reminded Katniss that she wasn't doomed that she had hope. When Katniss was young she saw a single dandelion and when she got home she picked them and her family had a feast. The dandelions were a source of food for Katniss and her family when most people would find them as weeds.

Primrose is Katniss' little sister. The actual plant has as a pale yellow color and is described as delicate just like Prim. It is a huge symbol between katniss and her sister. Katniss got her name from an edible root as did Prim with her name. Both the Primrose plant and Katniss rely on one another. Both need each other to survie. When one dies so does the other.

Primrose Everdeen is Katniss' hope and reason for living during the games.

Along with the symbolism with Katniss and Prim it is the same exact scenario between Katniss and Rue. Both need each other to survive.

Rue

Rue represents the hardcore awful part of the games. She was only 12 when she died. It showed the innocence that she was so young and delicate. When she died Katniss buried her and did the 3 Finger Salute. Doing that she got bread from district 11. Also it is believed when Rue die Katniss realizes she will never be able to protect Prim.

Throughout The Story the flower symbol never really changed they always represented the relationship between Katniss and Prim. Also Rue and Katniss.

Prim

Prim is well know in District 12. She is Katniss' sister and she means everything to Katniss. She is the reason why Katniss' heart keeps beating. Without each other the both will die.

In the end of the book Katniss uses the symbol after she surrounds Rue in flowers. That is when the symbol turns into a sign of rebellion. And used against the Capitol

At the beginning of the book the salute started out as an innocent goodbye symbol. It turned into a sign of rebellion by the end of the book.

The people of district 12 held up 3 middle fingers up at Katniss when she volunteered for her 12 year old sister Primrose when she was called during the reaping.

Katniss' Mocking Jay Pin

The Origins

The Capitol made a hybrid bird called the Jabberjay. They were created to spy on the districts. They would repeat anything they heard to the Capitol. After the rebellion had ended they were set free, and were expected to die out. Instead they mated with the Mocking bird thus creating the Mockingjay. It is the Capitols fault for creating this bird called the Mocking Jay.

The Actual Symbol

Katniss is the Mocking Jay. The Capitol made Katniss they way she is just like the Jabber Jay. By starving district twelve Katniss learned to kill animals and she became very smart and skilled when it came to that kind of stuff. When the Capitol realeased the 'homemade' Jabber Jays they mated with Mocking Birds thus making the Mocking Jay, and when Katniss volunteered for the Capitols games she became part natural and 'hybrid' thus making her a weapon and they downfall of the Capitol/Games. This entailing it was all the Capitols fault for making her and causing this uprising.

Sign of Rebellion

Katniss is the Mockingjay.
