Navigating Early

Reconmmendation

Symbolism

Place:

  • This book takes place in a boarding school in Maine. Although, in the book, it also mentions Kansas which is where Jack used to live.

I really liked this book , I would give it five stars. Navigating Early had all my favourite things I like in a book, adventure, action, imagination, lots of conflict, craziness, friendship.

Navigating Early is told in first person from the perspective of the protagonist Jack Baker. The story is told from the point of view of 13-year-old Jack who has just lost his mother unexpectedly and has been transplanted from his home in Kansas to a boys’ boarding school in Maine. His father is a military man who is stationed in Portsmouth and selects the boarding school that is closest to him.

Time:

  • The year is 1945 and the end of World War II has come. Throughout the book, the author takes you through certain days of Jack's life at the boarding school.

I like books that make me think, and that have things that i can relate to in life. This was defintely a book that made me think. the imagery was perfect, the details were so clear, I could imagine it perfectly in my mind.

Theme

Mood:

  • Navigating Early is an adventurous, hopeful book that is exciting and uplifting at some parts and sad and gloomy at other times.
