Thomas Scott was a Protestant from Ireland who had come to Ontario in 1863.

He wanted to expand Canada and to make it successful.

Thomas Scott wanted Canada to remain part of the British Empire.

In Ireland, where Scott lived most the time... Roman Catholics were permitted very few rights.

Thomas Scott thought/ believed the Catholics had no part to be part of the government.

In 1869 Scott was drifted to the Red River and began to tell everyone that the Metis were not fit to become part of the government.

Thomas said that "Canada should just ignore the them (Metis) and do whatever they wanted. Without consulting the Metis.

Louis Riel considered Scott as a threat.

With the approval of Louis the provisional government had Thomas Scott arrested and given a court martial.

On March 1870, he was executed by firing squad.
