WATER POLLUTION!!!

Pollution in our Water....

But wait! What IS 'Pollution'?

Types of Water Pollution:

Reality Check!!

Yes. Water is constantly polluted everywhere, causing water supply to be threatened. If there continues to be a lot of water pollution, the more unhealthy Earth and its environment will become. Pretty soon, large quantities of water can't be used due to the pollution it contains. All the different types of water pollution will play a role in threatening water supply.

Who/What is threatening Water Supply?

HUMANS

Humans often threaten water supply by littering, wasting usable water, dumping trash that doesn't belong into the water, using pesticides that well flow into bodies of water, and much more

INDUSTRIES

Industries produce a lot of waste and sometimes dumps the waste into our water. Many of these wastes include harmful chemicals that aren't good for the environment.

MARINE DUMPING

Want to go for a swim?? - -_______-

Dumping trash and litter in the seas, oceans, rivers, etc. Things in trash can be harmful to animals and may cause death.

Also with trash floating around it will damage the animals' habitat. This will damage the water supply and no one wants water that has had waste floating around in it! Well, do YOU??

OIL

Oil spills make up a ground-breaking 12% of the oils in the ocean. Other oil comes from travel by ship, dumping and draining. Oil spills cause so much problems because of the monumental amount of marine wildlife dying from it.

This bird was polluted by a 2007 oil spill in San Francisco Bay.

Unfortunately, this is what's happening to other animals as well - lucky enough this bird was found....but what about other wildlife who aren't as lucky as this bird. Are we just supposed to sit back and watch them die??

So...

What Can I Do??

Conserve water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary. This helps prevent water shortages and reduces the amount of contaminated water that needs treatment.

Be careful about what you throw down your sink or toilet. Don’t throw paints, oils or other forms of litter down the drain.

Use environmentally household products, such as washing powder, household cleaning agents and toiletries.

Take great care not to overuse pesticides and fertilizers. This will prevent runoffs of the material into nearby water sources.

By having more plants in your garden you are preventing fertilizer, pesticides and contaminated water from running off into nearby water sources.

Don’t throw litter into rivers, lakes or oceans. Help clean up any litter you see on beaches or in rivers and lakes, make sure it is safe to collect the litter and put it in a nearby dustbin

You can prevent water pollution by not littering, don't dispose harmful things into the water and much more!

Water supply is threatened? How?

There are many things threatening our water supply, such as us, humans, industrial waste, marine dumping, and oil pollution in our water.

Pollution is when you put catastrophic substances or products in the environment.

There are many types of water pollution, right from that water bottle sitting in the creek to the headline oil spills. These include:

  • Littering
  • Dumping trash and harmful chemicals in the water
  • Oil spills
  • Groundwater which is often caused by pesticide contamination from the soil
  • Surface water pollution

Genesis 2:15

The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

The Earth is green and beautiful, and Allah has appointed you his stewards over it. The whole earth has been created a place of worship, pure and clean. Whoever plants a tree and diligently looks after it until it matures and bears fruit is rewarded. If a Muslim plants a tree or sows a field and humans and beasts and birds eat from it, all of it is love on his part.

Hadith

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Numbers 35:33

You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it

Devote thyself single-mindedly to the Faith, and thus follow the nature designed by Allah, the nature according to which He has fashioned mankind. There is no altering the creation of Allah.

Surah 30:30
