This song relates because all of the major cities that were hit by the bombs were comleted wiped out and destroyed.

This song represents the wedding between Randy and Lib. Randy is really spontaneous and just asks her. It ends up being just a spur of the moment kind of thing.

This song loosely represents the Easter service at church. Even those who were not necessarily religious attended the service because it was a beacon of hope to the community that they were pressing forward and moving on from the disaster.

A renegade is a person who deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles. In the book they have to totally abandon the way they lived before the attack. They have to depend on themselves for food, shelter, and any form of authority.

This uplifting and empowering song symbolizes Ben Franklin's journey to manhood. Throughout the course of the novel, he had to become a man and take care of his family in the absense of his father. The moment when he reaches full maturity is when he shoots the German shephard.

This song represents how Peyton has to grow up so quickly and supress her feelings. The lyrics "like te little school mate in the school yard we play jacks and undo cards" she realizes that her simple childhood days are over and she has to mature for the sake of her family.

This song kind of rounds out the whole story just like the last chapter does. In the end everybody decides they want to stay in Fort Repose and continue to fight on for their little town and everybody in it.

This song represents how everybody thinks that the entire world is ending. The experience with the bombs makes people cherish what they have, but frightens them when the find out what all has been destroyed. They themselves find out that they are living in a contaminated zone.

This song represents the radioactive fallout that comes with a nuclear war. With any nuclear situiation there will always be a fallout of radioactivity. Jacksonville amd Orlando were both radioactive zones in Alas, Babylon.

This song represents how an entire culture is destroyed by a tragedy. The U.S. is in turmoil along with Russia and were almost completely wiped out. This is similiar to the destrction of the city of Pompeii that was destroyed by an earthquake in the year 79 AD.
