He was the son of John Tuck, born on August 2, 1810.
He was also the descendent of Robert Tuck, the man who founded Hampton in 1638.
Before he continued his education he;worked on his family's farm and did random jobs around Maine and New Hampshire.

his education from both Effingham Academy
as well as Hampton Academy.
Tuck graduated from Dartmouth College in 1835 where he decided to study law.
He started out teaching school and studying law but then started a law practice in Exeter in 1838.
He was elected to the New Hampshire General Court in 1842.
Tuck went into the court as a Democrat but soon realized that he did not agree with a lot of the Democrat leaders.
Tuck was against slavery and this put him in opposition to the chairman, Franklin Pierce.
Tuck was actually run out of the Democratic party.
Being run out of the party caused him to get together a group of Independent Democrats, Whigs, and Liberty men.
His group of men defeated the Democrats in 1846 at the state elections.
In 1847, Tuck was elected to the House of Representatives where he served for 3 terms.
He was not elected for a fourth term so he headed back to Exeter. There he organized another group of Independent Democrats, Whigs and Free Soilers which found a new Republican Party.
Tuck was the main leader of the party during the times such as the Civil War.
He and his party were supporters of Abraham Lincoln for president. He was the one that nominated Lincoln in Springfield.
Tuck was also a naval officer for Boston and Charlestown during the Civil War.
He became a wealthy man as a successful lawyer but also because of his investments in railroads.
He worked at Phillips Exeter Academy as a trustee.
As stated earlier he created a new Republican Party.
