  • In 1869, Benjamin went to work in his father's sawmill
  • At the age 23, he started to have a interest in business, and was managing the shipments of lumber to the west coast
  • After the death of his parents Benjamin had moved to California
  • Benjamin had created many inventions like the horse-drawn link-belt combined harvester to help improve agriculture
  • The track tractor had made it easy for farmers whose equipment sank in soft, muddy soil
  • His track tractor is seen in inventions such as bulldozers that affect agriculture in today's time.
  • Replaced steam powered engines with gasoline-powered tractors which created better efficiency
