Politics became a topic of interest, and was put into the papers much more. Politicians funded companies that agreed with their belief.
However angry mobs would harass editors when they didn't publish opinions similar to theirs.
Controversial Topics
He attempted to influence the people the American moral life through newspaper. He ended up creating the first newspaper chain.
He took over The Instructor, and changed it to The Pennsylvania Gazette in 1730.
My Reaction
Newspapers started focusing more on prohibition, slavery, gender status, etc.
Since topics became more controversial, the South didn't allow any abolitionist papers, their editors were harassed. Sometimes awards were promised for anyone who killed editors of large abolitionist papers.
I thought this project was going to be difficult but it was actually very interesting finding out that many of the things happening now also happened back in the day. Somethings were more severe than others, but I liked learning about the media when it first came to be.

General news was easier to access, people were more interested in public affairs, so newspapers started to appeal to certain groups (narrow casting).
Papers started to write more about politics, scandal and other gossip.

People started to believe that they shouldn't have to pay to get information, they stole, and refused to pay.
Editors didn't mind, advertisers would think people are buying more papers and therefore pay more for their ads.
