Why be in VIEW?

• Higher income limit for VIEW participants than TANF recipients
• TANF limit for 2 people is $475 per month
• VIEW limit for 2 people in $1293 per month
• VIEW enrollment is required to continue to receive TANF

• Education/Training
• Medical/Dental not covered by Medicaid
• Work Transportation
• Vehicle Repair
• Mileage
• Cab Program
• Emergency Intervention
• Daycare for work and work activities (i.e. job search)

What happens if they don't participate?

SANCTION

• No check, but the clock continues to count
• Support services are only available to clients who perform an act of compliance for VIEW

35 hours per week of a work activity

OR

30 hours per week of employment

Work Activities

• Job Search
• Up to 35 hours per week
• No more than six weeks per year
• Job Skills Training
• Vocational Education or Training
• No more than one year
• GED/ESL count only after 20 hours per week in another work activity
• Unpaid work experience placement at non-profit or government agency

What is VIEW?

VIEW Transitional Services

• Transitional services last for 12 months after VIEW TANF case is closed
• Education/Training
• Daycare
• VTP (VIEW Transitional Payment)
• Transportation)
• Transitional services are ONLY for participants who are working

Why are VIEW counselors so curious?

• Loudon County takes a whole family approach to employment services
• If a child is ill or having a problems at school, this will affect the parent's participation in VIEW
• VIEW counselors do not want to assign activities that are contrary to other staff's assignments

How long is a person "in VIEW"?

From the time they sign, the Agreement of Personal Responsibility at their first VIEW appointment through 12 months after their TANF case closes

What do VIEW counselors have in their case records?

• Employment assessments
• Income verifications
• Medical evaluation (if requested)

• What we don't have:
• Social Security card
• Birth certificates
