SMARTE Rationale

Elena Aguilar describes coaching as "a form of professional development that brings out the best in people, uncovers strengths and skills, builds effective tams, cultivates compassion, and builds emotionally resilient educators." (page 6)

The goal also provides leaders with the opportunity to assess and analyze current conditions to foster change and improvement to a more structured implementation plan. We need to identify the gaps in each school and determine in a collaborative way the best way to consistently implement coaching cycles. As Elena Aguilar argues, “the coach was ineffective without also looking at the conditions of the site.” (p.13)

Coach's SMARTE Goal:

a-I will improve my coaching skills by understanding and applying a set of core coaching knowledge components.

b-I will implement high-leverage strategic actions that support my clients in reaching goals. I will use the gradual release of responsibility model to develop a client’s autonomy. I will learn more about ZPD and ways to improve effective ways to identify and respond to my clients’ Zone of Proximal Development, by the end of June of 2017.
