I believe in a strong system of feedback
21st Century Learners need to be able to synthesize peer, teacher, and expert feedback to understand how to improve.
The students need to understand the feedback they’re being given in order to develop their own self-assessment skills.
This process supports the students’
needs by creating new self-knowledge, which leads to life-long learning.
The feedback should be specific, timely, and frequent.

The online teacher promotes student success through clear expectations, prompt responses, and regular feedback
I believe students need active engagement
21st Century Learners need to be able to think critically, solve complex problems, and transfer their learning to a variety of new situations.
In order to truly understand content, students must be able to apply what they’ve learned.
The activities in this lesson support the learners’
needs through active engagement.
Since the students construct their own meaning from the activities, the role of the teacher is to coach or guide the students to success.
The online teacher plans, designs, and incorporates strategies to encourage active learning, application, interaction, participation, and collaboration in the online environment.

I believe students need choice to increase motivation
21st Century Learners need to choose their activities, responses, and collaborations.
Choice ensures the students are motivated to participate.
The activities in this lesson support the
needs of the students by giving them opportunities to control their own responses to the content and their interactions with peers.
The facilitator should actively promote the student’s collaborative efforts, choices, and responses.

The online teacher knows the primary concepts and structures of effective online instruction and is able to create learning experiences to enable student success.
