"Tuesdays with Morrie"

by: Mitch Albom

"once you learn how to die, you learn how to live"

the story of life, death and love

The quotation expresses the frailty of life and the secret of how to live to the fullest extent. Morrie developed a respect for life as he was dieing, which he wanted to share with Mitch. The idea of death scared Mitch at first, though after time passed he learned that death is the key for learning how to live.

Aphorism: a brief statement of truth or principle

This quotation has drastically changed my life, in ways that i cannot begin to fathom. "Tuesdays with Morrie" was not the first time i saw this quotation, though it rekindled the respect for life that i always should have. I strive to live every day to it's fullest, even though I rarely succeed. I've developed a respect for life, friends, family, and death through this quotation.

This quotation has proven to be true in many stories including "The Seventh Tower" by Garth Nix. In the series a young boy named Tal is fascinated with life outside of the seven towers when he suffers a near death experience. his fascination grows to determination when the leaders of his civilization attempt to rid themselves of Tal and his friend Milla, a foreign girl from a forgotten community.

A character from history who knows much about death and destruction is Mohandas Gandhi. Having his father die in 1885 opened his eyes to the serious wrong-doings in the world. He led protests around South Africa and India where he voiced his opinion about what rights humans have.
