In response to twins' Lexie and Lindsey Kate's boycott campaign, the chain had this to say, "We believe in putting hot models in our commercials, because ugly ones don’t sell burgers."

  • Carl's is literally telling the audience that their burgers are bigger, and hence better.
  • This ad, like many of Carl's Jr ads, appeals to pathos in a sexual context.
  • Burger is a symbol for a guy's manhood, playing on emotions of inferiority.
  • Implies Carl's Jr products are macho, and you can be too.
  • Carl's Jr is telling you that they don't need a persuasive ad to tell you that their burgers are the best, everyone just knows what's up.
  • Miss Turkey is hot therefore attracts young men to actually pay attention to the ad.
  • This ad uses ethos in the sense that it has a popular figure showcasing their product.
  • If a beautiful young fit super model can have it I can have it also!
  • Their main target audience for this ad is those that appreciate a burger for raw size and taste. One of the few ads of Carl's that targets a general population.
  • The ad literally tells you that they take their business seriously, unlike McDonalds.
  • Figuratively its saying that they crush the competition. The clown legs are meant to be Ronald's. The scene looks like the Wicked Witch being crushed, furthering negative associations with McDonald's.
  • This commercial ad is about their burgers being "all natural"
  • It's focusing on potential customers that are health conscious, and others that want to eat real food, not processed fake food
  • This ad appeals to logos, reason is because its based in a farmers market, and people will think that since it's in such a location that the burger must be as hearty as all those vegetables

Since the 1990's, Carl's Jr has grown infamous for their unapologetic use of sex appeal in

advertising.
