Meteorite

Meteorites are meteors that do not burn up completely burn up in the Earth`s atmosphere and hits the Earth`s surface.

Asteroid

Comet

Asteroids are large chunks of rock. They revolve around the sun, mostly in between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The region Asteroids lie is called the Asteroid Belt.

Comets are are composed of rocks, ice, and dust. When comets near the sun they gain much heat, thereafter gas and dust is given off in a form of a tail. The tail of a comet will always point away from the sun.

Meteors

Meteoroids

When a meteoroid falls into the Earth`s atmosphere it burns up creating a bright streak of light called a meteor.

Meteoroids are small chunks of rock that revolve around the sun. Billions of them are scattered throughout our solar system.

Neptune

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun

and the last in our solar system. Neptune has a diameter of

49,530 kilometers which is about 3.5 larger than Earth. No surface is on Neptune only gas surface. Neptune has a atmosphere just like all the other outer planets composed of hydrogen, helium, methane with large poisonous clouds. Being the eighth planet from the sun Neptune is extremely far from the sun, exactly 2.8 billion miles. No life can be supported here due to poisonous gases and there being extreme temperatures.

Uranus

Coming in at the 7th planet from the sun Uranus

has a diameter of 51,120 kilometers which is about

4X larger than Earth. Uranus has a surface made of poisonous gases. Hydrogen, helium, methane make up Uranus`s atmosphere along with poisonous clouds in atmosphere . Uranus is 178 billion miles from the sun, and can not support life due to the poisonous gas with many inflicting factors.

Where We Are

Earth is located on one of the outer arms of our Galaxy. Our galaxy is the Milky Way Galaxy. Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and it`s location is unknown due to the universe constantly expanding.

Saturn

Our Home

the Milky Way

Galaxy

Saturn is the second outer planet and the 6th planet from the sun. It has a diameter of 120,500 kilometers were Earth has a diameter of 12,800 Saturn has no surface only gas like other outer planets. Hydrogen, helium, and methane make up Saturn`s very thick atmosphere. Saturn is a extremely far 996 million miles from the sun. This planet will never support life because of the amenity of pressure the atmosphere pushes out and the poisonous gases.

Jupiter

Mercury

Jupiter being a outer planet is much

larger than Earth, Jupiter is 143,000

kilometers compared to the small size of Earth at 12,800 kilometers. Our outer planets the ``Gas Giants" have surfaces that are made of gas, therefore having no surface. However the atmosphere of Jupiter is quite interesting. It is composed of hydrogen, helium, and methane. Jupiter is know to have the Great Red Spot a humongous storm that could fit at least three Earths inside of it. Jupiter is 483.78 miles away from the sun. Being composed of gases poisonous to (life that is known) Jupiter will never support life.

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, and only 36 million miles from the sun this planet is very hot getting up to -427*C. Mercury is about 1/3 of Earth at 4,900 kilometers and Earth is 12,800 kilometers. Mercury's surface is very rocky with many craters and one very large crater named the Coriolis Basin.. This planet has a very thin atmosphere composed of hydrogen and helium. Mercury can not support life unlike Earth that is the only planet to have the ability to support life.

Mars

The ``Red Planet" Mars is the fourth

planet from the sun and the last inner

planet. Mars is about 6,000 kilometers

smaller than the Earth, the Earth is 12,800

kilometers were Mars is 6,800 kilometers.

Mars`s surface is composed of rock and many extinct volcanoes, mountains, also with the largest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mons. The very thin atmosphere is composed of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and argon. Mars`s Distance from the sun is 141.6 million miles. Mars can not support life because extreme temperatures and no oxygen.

Venus

Venus is called the Earth``s Twin because

of it`s size. Venus has a diameter of 12,100

kilometers and Earth has a diameter of 12,800.

The surface is very interesting with many volcanoes, plateaus, and large flat plains. Unlike mercury Venus has a very thick atmosphere composed of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and large clouds made of droplets of sulfuric acid. 67237910 miles is the distance of Venus to the sun. With extreme temperatures up to 464*C no life will ever exist on this planet.

Earth

Earth is the third planet from the sun, our home. Obviously Earth is the same size as if you compared it to Earth. The surface is composed rock ,but not as near as much as the other inner planets. There are many colorful plains, mountains, valleys, volcanoes with many more geological features. Earth`s atmosphere has many different gases that it is composed of including nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. Our home is 91.3 million miles from the sun. Earth is the only planet to have the ability to support life because of oxygen in the atmosphere.
