Why this?
I watch this TV show called Supernatural. In this show a lot happens, but near the end of season 9, one of the main characters, Dean Winchester, has to face the famous Cain from the Bible story Cain and Abel. Cain then explains to Dean the reason for the murder of his own brother.
"Abel wasn't talking to God. He was talking to Lucifer. Lucifer was gonna make my brother into his pet. I couldn't bear to watch him be corrupted, so I offered a deal — Abel's soul in Heaven for my soul in Hell. Lucifer accepted...as long as I was the one who sent Abel to Heaven. So, I killed him. Became a soldier of Hell — a knight."
—Cain to his descendant, Dean Winchester
How is it still used?
Well two examples of Cain and Abel are: The Lion King and Hamlet. In the Disney movie The Lion King, there are two brother lions. One is Mufasa and the other brother is Scar. Scar is jealous of Mufasa because he is the King and he has a beautiful family. Scar then makes a plan to kill Mufasa and take over his kingdom. The Lion King is actually based off of the Shakespeare play Hamlet. In the play Hamlet, there are also two brothers. One is the King Hamlet and the other is his brother Claudius. Claudius is jealous of his brother so he murders him and takes the place as the new King.
