Celie Discovers Mr.___ Has Been Hiding Netties Letters(P. 117)

Nettie getting kicked out is very important in the relationship between her and Celie. Because of this event the two sisters are isolated from each other for the first time in their lives. This change of scene for Nettie's also opens up doors to new opportunities in life that she would otherwise not be able to have.

This event is important because it shows how uncomfortable Celie's relationships with even the closest of people are. By opening up the book in this way the author creates a tone that can be seen throughout the book through the many negative experiences throughout her life.

After years of not hearing from her sister, who Celie presumed was dead, she now realizes that she has the chance to come into contact with her long lost sister. This discovery makes Celie's feelings towards different characters change. For example, after this event Celie now has a new found hatred for Mr.___, changing the relationship between the two forever.

Celie's lack of intimate feelings towards Mr.___ expresses how the marriage almost wasn't "real" for her.

Celie Reunites With Nettie(P. 200)

Nettie's marriage is very important for her character's development because it shows how she is for the first time since she and Celie were together is finding positive relationships which affect the rest of her life.

This was a very tragic event in Nettie's life. She was now in danger of death for standing up for the people who's lives she'd been changing and could not do anything about it. This event changed how Nettie viewed different groups of people.

Celie and Nettie reuniting is a very important event because after years of not seeing each other Celie and Nettie are reunited which helps each of them begin to work on creating better lives for themselves and each other.

When Nettie moves to Africa her life is changed severely. Her life now has a purpose, to help the Olinkan people. She also has the chance to see how people of different races are treated and viewed from completely different people.
