Pathos Example

  • Comes from the Greek word meaning “suffering”
  • Attempts to convince the audience by forcing an emotional response
  • It can appeal to a positive or a negative emotion
  • appeals to hopes, dreams, fears, worries, beliefs, or ideals
  • How is the speaker trying to make the audience feel, and how might it affect what the audience thinks or does?
