To educate: homer tells us this story in educate us by how It is important it is to follow an instruction/order from someone else. This is shown in the story, when the Achaeans had to meet their devastating fate when they ignored Odysseus's warning, which came from Tiersias.
To entertain: homer tells us this story to entertain us by telling us the battle the Achaeans had fought against the super natural powers of Zeus, it contains a lot of imagery, similes, metaphors, and description.
To inspire: homer tells us the story in which he inspires to: when we are warned against something then you should heed it. He inspires us to be patient, hopeful and faithful. Example that inspires us are : patient in the way that Achaeans were not when they finished their food supplies, and then feasted on the cattle. Hope in a way that the Achaeans did not have hope when the were try to find food. faithful in a way that we must have faith in order to conquer obstacles that stand in our daily lives
Odysseus and his chew return to Circes’ island, the crew dock at a grotto ( sea cave) , because of a storm Zeus. When the take a shelter in the grotto, Odysseus warn his men- because Tiresias warned him- not to eat the cattle, for it belonged to Helios, and would be punished. The crew agreed, but after a month of the storms , the run out of red wine and bread, the crew went to the shore where the fished and hunted for birds. One day Odysseus went inland to pray for gods help, offered a sacrifice, and cleansed himself, after words he fell asleep. When Odysseus slept, Eurolochus convinces the crew to eat the cattle. When Odysseus wakes up he find his men feasting on on the cattle, and tries to ask for forgiveness from the gods. At this time Lampietatia (nymph) goes to Helios and tells him about his cattle.
Helios blackmails Zeus into punishing Odysseus and the crew. Hermes tells calypso,Who then tells odysseus.Odysseus tries to look for a solution but finds none. After the sixth day of feasting on the cattle, a fine day appears, and Odysseus and his crew leave the island . After they are at sea the are shot by one of Zeus's lightning bolt, which destroys the ships and Odysseus's crew, Odysseus survives, escapes, and seeks the refuge of Calypso.
