History of Boanthropy

*They "heyday" for this disease was in the 19th century.

Causes of Boanthropy

*Some speculate that it is a manifestation of anxiety, depression and regression

*Around 600 BC King Nebuchandnezzar[Neb-uh-cad-neezer] (who was described in the book of Daniel in the bible) was described as he "was driven from men and did eat grass as oxen", which we now know was Boanthropy

*In 1864 Robert Chambers described in his "Book Of Days", this disease.

*May be slightly hereditary, as the child of the infected was described as being able to control the disease more than the parent.

*Others say its because of dreams, a stroke and hypnotism

The mental disorder in which a person believes themselves to be a Bovine (cow or ox)

*In 1792 a vaccination for Small Pox was feared to induce this disease

Effects on the mind and body

*Your body is not set up to digest grass (as cows have many stomachs and are able to regurgitate their food and keeping chewing) so you could get sick from that.

*Also, your body isnt built to stand like a cow 24/7, so you could have bone/joint damage
