Medical Social Work?
To be an effective Medical Social Worker, one's practice framework should merge the person's art with the profession's science (Sheafor,1997)
it is a specialized area of social work that revolves around the social development of patients and their families as related to their medical and health problems to make them attain self-reliance and contribute to the enhancement of community health and social well-being.
Medical Social Worker?
assess the psychosocial functioning of patients and families and intervene as necessary.
Interventions: Counseling patients and families to necessary resources in the community; providing psychotherapy, supportive counseling; or grief counseling; or helping a patient to expand and strengthen their network of social supports.
