Odysseus Battles The Suitors

After Odysseus comes home, he finds that suitors have taken over his home and battles them to take back his home. In the movie, Odysseus battles them politically and wins. Afterward, he blackballs all of them instead of actually killing them.

Odysseus Goes Home On Ithaka

After Odysseus comes home on the island of Ithaka, a trusted swineherd helps him get back to Odysseus' house disguised as a beggar. The movie says that Charles (the Swineherd) is a valet and gives him a ride home.

Odysseus Leaves After Trojan War

Odysseus Arrives On The Island Of The Phaecians

The book says that Odysseus found refuge on the island and after he told his story, they send him home. Our version says that Henry is saved by a coastguard officer (Nausicaa) and takes him to her home on Miami. Then arranges for him to go D.C.

After the greeks won the Trojan War, they all go back home with their crews. In our movie, Odysseus goes back home on a plane with the crew being all the passengers.

Odysseus Is Trapped On Ogygia

In The Odyssey, Odysseus is sent to Calypso on Ogygia and is trapped for seven years. In our movie "Long Journey Home", Henry (Odysseus) crash lands on a deserted island with the flight attendant, Minnie (Calypso).

Hermes Rescues Odysseus

In the book, Zeus sends Hermes to rescue Odysseus from Calypso's grasp. In our movie, the United States Navy sends a boat called the SS Hermes to look for Henry. The boat only has room for one person and Calypso makes the choice to let Odysseus go.
