Effects of the Colonization

Culture

Pros:

* British Colonialism installed in Nigeria the foundations of a modern, construction of parliamentary institutions and Legal Institutions Education. also it leads to the prosperity of the nation.

* Nigerian culture is as multi-ethnic as the people in Nigeria.

Cons:

* British forced the nigerians to export palm oil to Britain. This made the country go undermined since the British used a lot of force to the leaders and other leaders were forced to resign. Also leads to the suffering of other people.

* Nigeria comprises of three large ethnic groups, which are Yoruba, Hausa-Fulani and Igbo.

* Nigerian arts reflect African, Islamic, and European influences.

* The language mainly spoken in Nigeria is English.

Why Britain Colonized Nigeria?

*The British wanted oil.

* They give a lot of value to different types of arts, which primarily include ivory carving, grass weaving, wood carving, and so many more.

* They were also competing against other European countries for occupation of Africa.

* 50% of people living in Nigeria is Muslim, 40% are Christain and the rest follow traditional beliefs>

* Europeans saw Africa as a"Gold Mine", especially economically.

* The music and dance done in Nigeria is central to the way Nigerians remember their past and celebrate their present.

* They believed that they would receive cheap or free raw materials

* Nigerian clothing is very brightly colored and unique to the country. The Nigerian people all wear traditional African clothing.

* Among the games, the Nigerians enjoy soccer the most, but polo, cricket, swimming and wrestling are also popular games played in Nigeria.

* The fabric is made so that people can stay cool in the hot months. The clothing is intentionally made to be loose fitting so that the fabric doesn't stick to their skin.

* Nigeria is easily the most populous nation in Africa and one of the fastest growing on earth.

* The inhabitants are divided into about 250 ethnic groups.

* The largest of these groups are the Hausa and Fulani in the north, the Yoruba in the southwest, and the Igbo in the southeast.

* Other peoples include the Kanuri, Nupe, and Tiv of the north, the Edo of the south, and the Ibibio-Efik and Ijaw of the southeast.

* But the industrial revolution and the advent of the machine made the trade unnecessary and unprofitable.

* The aftermath was an increased interest in palm oil trade.
