Science Project Thingy

Map of Success

During this project I've found out that the results basically matched what I said in my hypothesis. But really you can probably use your senses to find out which coin is which. My family is not the brightest but different people get different results. The main thing that I was really surprised at was the fact that whenever I'd drop the dollar everyone would get it right. It turns out when you drop a dollar it hits the platform harder than the rest, which makes it really simple to identify and say "Oh that's a dollar"

Bibliography

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I was unable to put the chart that i made into the prezi (actually 'cause i didn't know how to do it), so I'll basically just try to type it in. 5 coins were dropped now see typed chart below -----v. I only tried this with a few family members that were available to help me out. This chart includes me as well

It turns out the majority of the people

got less than 50% right.

Thanks to:

Ms. McCormack

The people who helped test out the theory

Fayez for making me not do a powerpoint

but instead do another way to present.

My Question

Since I'm mainly focusing on how effective your senses are, my question will be on how can you use your sense of hearing:

Can you use your sense of hearing to determine whether a penny or any kind of coin is dropped?

What I'm Going To Be Showing You Today?

Hypothesis

My hypothesis for this project is that, no you can not use your key sense of hearing no matter how carefully you listen to determine whether a penny or any type a coin is dropped on the platform that you can hear the sound on, unless if it is a dollar because the weight of the dollar compared to the other coins is way heavier therefore you can hear a louder sound when it lands.

I've been given the task to form up a science project for a class science fair. I decided to test out how effective one of our key senses our.

Procedure I Must Follow

1. Gather supplies needed. Find a penny, nickel, dime, quarter and dollar

2. Get at least one or two other people to help you in this experiment.

3. Make sure you or the other person is wearing a blindfold or at least trust them into keeping their eyes closed throughout the experiment.

4. Have yourself or the other person drop the coins one by one in a random order.

5. Try to have yourself or the other member identify what coin is dropped while their eyes are closed or blindfolded,

6. Repeat steps 3,4,5 with different people to try to see how many they get right.

7. Record the results.
