The cause is unknown, so no cure is available. Babies born with Prune Belly Syndrome are recommended to have early surgery in order to fix weak abdominal muscles, urinary tract problems, and cryptorchidism. The baby may also be given antibiotics to help prevent urinary tract infections.
Prune Belly Syndrome is usually detected in ultrasound before birth, where doctors can then recommend treatment as necessary for when the baby is born.
