How did The tang dynasty gain Power?

Under the Tang rulers, the empire expanded. Taizong's armies reconquered the northern and western lands that China had lost since the decline of the Han Dynasty

  • The song rulers established a grand new capitol at Hangzhou
  • saw rapid economic growth
  • Merchants grew rich from trade with chinese in the north
  • had a strong military but wasn't to large

Tang rulers further strengthened the central government of China. They expanded the network of roads and canals begun by the Sui. This helped to pull the empire together.

The tang dynasty fell by falling to the Muslim Armies. As a result central Asia passed out of the Chinese control. finally in 907 rebels sacked and burned the tang capitol.

Key leaders shaped the history of the tang dynasty by reviving and expanding the civil service examination system begun by the Han Dynasty

Economic: About a million peasant men and women toiled five years to dig the more than 1,000-mile waterway. They also promoted foreign trade and improvements in agriculture.

Social: There was blossoming of and advancements in the visual arts music, literature, and philosophy.

Political: anitiated the organizational structure 'Dao' and 'Fu' to divide the political districts.

How did the Song Dynasty establish peace? and How

were the key leaders and figures that shaped the history of the Song?

Social:During the Song era, patterns of behavior developed that became the characteristic of later people. One of these was the painful and destructive tradition of foot binding.

Economic:Foreign trade was a Southern Song priority, and the government constructed merchant ships and improved harbor facilities.

Political:This government system had advantages and disadvantages. The bureaucrats all studied the same works on social behavior and philosophy, and this promoted unity and the normalization of behavior throughout the empire and during the times of dynastic change.

Song Dynasty clan members set up a capital in Hangzhou that was then a wealthy trading city. Song rulers retained their domain south of the Huai River along with most of the population. They also retained big southern merchant cities, and a new period of prosperity began.

The Northern Song Dynasty fell in 1127 AD, when the Jurchen people invaded and conquered Northern China. They sacked the Northern Song capital of Kaifeng, and captured the Northern Song Emperor, Qinzong.
