Constructivism Vs. Objectivism

Objectivism

Knowledge is presumed to be outside of the individual. Learners must to find and understand knowledge.

(Not actually part of presentation, talking about the script)

When talking about constructivism and objectivism, I would start with the basic fact or information I put with each picture. From there, I would add more detail. I would use the table on p. 67 of the book as a guide while I'm talking.

Objectivism has historically dominated U.S science classrooms and classrooms in general.

Constructivism: Teacher is the facilitator of learning. Students actively construct knowledge.

Objectivism: Teacher acts as the authority and transmitter of knowledge. Students passively receive knowledge

Individuals actively construct or build their knowledge from their experience as a way of making sense of the social and natural world around them

John Dewey, Lev Vygotsky, and Jean Piaget were all constructivist
