"You better come inside or El Cucuy is going to get you!"
One time I got so mad at my cousin because she wouldn't lay down and go to sleep. So I yelled that El Cucuy was going to get her if she didn't. I made a scary noise and it was dark so it scared her badly. Until the age of like 10, she was always scared of the dark and wouldn't go into a room or outside without someone checking to see if there was a Cucuy.
I took advantage of it for a while.
Bogyphobia is the fear of the Boogeyman.
Im doing El Cucuy(:
Bogeyphobia could start from an early event as a child. Always being told that a scary 'boogeyman' was out to get you because you weren't listening can really mess with your head.
When I was growing up, my mom and her side of the family would always scare me with El Cucuy.
Example: When I would get in trouble or didn't want to go to bed, my mom would tell me that El Cucuy would get me if I didn't listen.
