A Norse saga of epic porportions...

Sigurd The Volsung

The classic myth of dragons, warriors, and fate.

Brunhild is a valkryie, an important and unique mythological character in Norse Mythology.

Sigurd truly embodies the Norse hero.

Regin, Gunnar, Gudrun, Gjúki and Grimhild also play important roles.

Archetypes

The Norse hero archetype is further developed through the balance of wealth, success, battle, and loyalty (King/Queen, Family, Friends).

Fafnir represents the archetypical dragon.

Regin is the archetypical trickster, as he tries to decieve Sigurd.

Sigurd was first referrred to in 1,000 A.D. in the epic poem "Beowulf". By this time, The Volsunga Saga was already popular.

Sigurd The Volsung was was often prefaced by the myth "Otr's Ransom".

Skalds, much like griots and bards, recounted popular myths to others.

~Wrote the operas "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung", which were both based on this myth.
