Introduction

Focus on Reading Street by Scott Foresman

  • Basals use a systematic approach
  • Students are taught to say individual sounds and blend them
  • In order to be more integrated
  • Basals also involve spelling, grammar, oral language, listening and vocabulary components
  • They have materials for average, above-average, below-average readers and ELLs
  • The materials will still have the same topics, vocabulary and strategies
  • A basal/anthology reading program
  • It includes readers and anthology and supplementary materials that gradually increase in:
  • Difficulty
  • Teachers' manuals
  • Workbooks
  • Assessments
  • A series of stepping stones drills with gradually difficult exercise
