Horus becomes king

Ancient Egyptian Creation Myth

by Avery Lyons

Osiris and Isis's son, Horus, avenged his father by returning to battle Seth, who was an evil ruler. He killed him and claimed his father's throne.

Seth Becomes King

God of the Underworld

The Nun

In the beginning of time there was only a sea of chaos called Nun.

One day an island rose out of the sea and on that island was the first god, Ra the sun god.

Then Osiris was resurrected and became the ruler of the underworld.

Seth killed Osiris, banishing him to the underworld and became the new ruler of Earth.

Geb and Nut

Ra created Shu, the god of the air, and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. They had two children: Geb, the god of the earth, and Nut, the goddess of the sky, who married against Ra's orders.

The First Man

The first man was created from the tears of Ra, but they were wicked so he decided to destroy them.

Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys

Sekhmet

Earth, Air, Sky

Geb and Nut had four children: Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys.

Osiris and Isis ruled the Earth as king and queen for many years, but Seth became jealous.

Shu separated them so that he was holding Nut up above the earth forever.

This is how the physical world was created with Earth and sky separated by air.

Sekhmet, "the eye of Ra," was sent to destroy all of mankind. But after he saw the bloodshed she was causing Ra changed his mind and called her off so some men could live.
