Jenna Fox vs. Charlie Gordon
Difference: Jenna has many friends and family to support her through difficult times, whereas Charlie only has Miss Kinnian and Algernon.
Similarity: Both Jenna and Charlie have a difficult time adjusting to the real world after their operations, but soon enough, everything becomes easier.
Inference
At the end of the story, Charlie plans to move to a new state. However, I do not think he will move for a few reasons. First, people are starting to be nice to him because they feel bad, and if he moved he would have to start over. Also, he has met so many people, including Miss Kinnian. I do not think Charlie wants to leave her, Algernon's grave, or his home.
Algernon is like a mini Charlie (in animal form) and represents what Charlie has gone through.
This event is significant to Charlie because Algernon was an important part of his life and meant a lot to him. It is also when Charlie starts to recognize the Charlie Gordon/Algernon effect. Charlie learns that just like Algernon, his intelligence will start to decrease.
Theme
Emotions matter more than intellect.
vs.
Charlie finds out he will have an operation performed that will make him smart.
"Maybe someday Ill beat Algernon. Boy that would be something." -Charlie Gordon
This event is important because it is a new chapter in Charlie's life, where he will finally get what he wants; to be smart. It gives Charlie the opportunity to be "normal" like everyone else. He is hopeful that that being smart will fill the empty spot in him that has been making him feel incomplete.
This quote is important because it shows how much it means to Charlie to be smart and to learn. It is the beginning of a miracle transformation that happens to Charlie Gordon.
This quote is important because it is at this point when Charlie realizes that you should judge people on their character, not on their intelligence or looks. He describes how he feels about people being mistreated because of their intelligence level.
