The stock market crashed which led to the start of the Great Depression leaving two.five million plus people in desolation. The circulation of money was so low that the U.S didn't mint nickels in 1932 or 1933.

The Great Depression followed shortly after the Roaring Twenties in 1929. People camped out in cardboard boxes called shantytowns. President Herbert Hoovers' name became synonymous among the U.S. Stew received the name of "Hoover Stew".

After WWl, every one wanted to party! Things like

flappers, Ford Cars, the Harlem Renaissance, jazz, scat, and new technology (like the fridge, toaster, and other household objects) made the 1920's a very memorable

time period. It was all fun

and games

until the Stock Market

crashed on Oct. 28 & 29 of

1929, starting the Great

Depression.

Here's a quote from the Roaring 20's

A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease. - John Munir
