• Set up chairs around in a circle

• Writing prompt: write a fairytale or story about bravery

• After a minute or two tell them to stop writing, stand up, and place their story on the chair

• Play music for “musical chairs” and have them revolve around the chairs

• At random stop the music and tell them to sit down wherever they are at, pick up the story left on the chair, and continue writing it where the previous person left off

• Continue revolving until the page fills up

• Decorate a shoe box that demonstrates the adjective they used at the start of class (ex: Delightful); use images that demonstrate it

• Write name on box and adjective under it

• Leave a hole in the box

For Next Class

Exercise II

• Students place their box on their desk and walk around the room placing slips of paper into other students boxes with synonyms of the word on the box.

o Ex: Delightful -> kind

Conclusion

• On the same paper, explain how you have acted like your adjective in the past, present, and future

o Ex: Past: I am delightful because I have always taken care of my cats

o Ex: Present: I am delightful because I treat people with respect
