  • watermill: water mills were a revolutionary invention used all over the world in ancient times for the purpose of metal shaping, agriculture and most importantly, milling. To mill meant to grind, and that invariably meant to grind grain.
  • Odometer: odometers measures the distance traveled by a vehicle such as bicycle or any other automobiles.
  • Alarm clock: the alarm clock went through changes from a mechanical alarm to the modern technology like cell phones, which come with inbuilt alarm. But the first of alarms used by ancient Greeks were nothing like today. They used to integrate mechanism to time the alarm which would sound off delicate water organs or pebbles into drums.

  • Conrad Hilton founded the Hilton Hotel empire, and grew it into one of the largest private companies in the U.S., consisting of over 3600 hotels worldwide.
  • Conrad Hilton was born on December 25, 1887 in San Antonio, New Mexico. Started at the age of 25 yrs old.
  • He was a business owner, hotel magnate.
  • Even though he suffered a huge financial setback during the Great Depression, Hilton was able to build a hotel empire. He believed that each property should have its own style, not look like a part of a chain. He formed the Hilton Hotels Corporation in 1946.

  • Hospitality in Homer’s time was shown through long travels such as Odysseus' in The Odyssey as well as the guest-friend relationship, known as xenia.

  • Integration:Hotels have to manage multiple functional areas: rooms, gym and spa. Each can be operated via different software systems, creating a messy system. Integrating these systems will enable more comprehensive information management, faster reporting

People from back then would think that it is more advanced and luxurious. Technology has advanced greatly since the ancient times, which means things are much easier for workers to help out the guest.
