Thy Kingdom Come

"Our Father "

Lord's Prayer begins recognizing God as our Father. Christ called upon God as Abba (daddy). During his prayer his children are acknowledged for God's paternal love.

Fun Fact: God did not instruct his followers to use the term My Father. It was a term for Christ to use exclusively to indicate he was the only Begotten son of the Father by nature. We become the children of God by adoption, which embraces heaven, earth and purgatory as a part of the Communion of Saints

The Revelation and description of the Kingdom, is of God formed and essintal to Christ's teaching. Christ's message, shows us the way to live in this kingdom, through every aspect of life.

This Kingdom which regins from Christ in the hearts of the faithful and through a intimate connection with the Blessed Trinity, and was established from the moment of the Incarnation

Hallowed be thy Name

The Old English word Hallowed means Holy or Sacred. In the Lord's Prayer this truth is proclaimed and praised is given to his name, thereby giving Glory to his name.

The Lord's Prayer

In St. Matthew's account of the Sermon on the Mount, Christ taught his disciples to pray sing these words.

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, and to forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil"

This prayer which Christ taught his disciples, is called the Lord's prayer or the Our Father, and it is a model for all Christian prayers. It is sometimes called the perfect prayer, as is sums up the entire gospel of Jesus

Prayer in Christian Life

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

God becomes more present the more we pray and develop a relationship between him like friends develop mutual relationships. Through the saints, men and women of prayer, we as faithful laypeople, can do little on are own, but with God, all things-even miracles, are possible when we pray.

Give us this daily Bread

The two greatest commandments Christ wants us to follow: Love of God, and love of neighbor as self. When we follow his will, we help establish kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

How do we know what God's will is even after we know he has a plan for all of us? The answer is through Sacred Tradition, and Sacred Scripture as transmitted by the Magisterium we can come to a greater understanding of the teachings of Chruist and therefore God's will, and by understanding and following His will, the Kingdom of Heaven is established on Earth

  • People are entirely dependent on God, as created beings
  • As the Scriptures tells us, he is also concerned about every aspect of life
  • This line expresses the truth of the human condition and its relationship with God.
  • our daily bread recalls Christ's words, "I am the bread of life."
  • This forms a humble request for the Eucharist.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
