This festival celebrated the death and revival of the God, Osiris. It was celebrated during the fourth month of the flood season. After the water receded, they would shape the ground to look like Osiris' profile. Seeds were placed in the Osiris beds to ensure that the crops will flourish and be revived, just like Osiris.
This festival celebrated the 30th year of a pharaoh's rule. This festival was celebrated every 3 years until the pharaoh's death. Often they celebrated with temple rituals, offerings, and raising of the adjed, the spine of a bovine(cow) that represented the pharaoh's strength. There was a feast held in the pharaoh's honor.
Also know as, "the opening of the year," this holiday didn't have a set-in-stone date but it corresponded with the annual flooding of the Nile. This was a holiday to celebrate the new fertility of the farmlands for the following year. It was celebrated with feasts and community gatherings.
