Timeline Of Gabby Douglas's Life

July, 2010- Chow came to Exaclibur

December 31st, 1995- Gabby was born

2002 - They bought a house

August, 2008- Gabby saw Coach Chow at the Olympics

Gabby Douglas was born on December 31st with a rare life-threatening blood disease called Branched Chain Ketoaciduria.

In July of 2010, Liang Chow came to Excalibur.

In August of 2008, Gabby watched the Beijing Olympics and saw Coach Chow coach Shawn Johnson and immediately wanted him to coach her.

In 2002, They bought a small 3 bedroom townhouse in Virginia Beach, VA.

October, 2010- Gabby moved to Iowa to train with Chow

August, 2012- Gabby makes history at the Olympics

In October of 2010, Gabby's mom called Chow in Iowa where he lived and they found a way for her to train with him while she stayed with the Partons, her host family.

In August of 2012, Gabby Douglas made history at the Olympics. She became the first African American and the first women of color of any nationality to ever win a gold medal in the individual all around competition, she became the 4th American female gymnast to win the gold, and she became the first ever US gymnast to win all around gold in a single Olympic games.

In October of 2002, Gabrielle's mom enrolled her in recreational classes at Gymstrada gymnastics.

November, 2001 Parents divorced

July, 2012- Gabby wins Olympic Trials

In November of 2001, Gabby's parents divorced.

In July of 2012, Gabby competed in the Olympic trials and won the competition with the only guaranteed spot on the Olympic team.

January 2nd, 2012- Gabby almost quit gymnastics

On January 2nd, 2012 she texted her mom and told her she wanted to quit gymnastics, because she was homesick but eventually decided against it.

February, 1996 - The Douglas's became homeless

June 2004- She becomes state champion and moves gyms

In June of 2004, she became the Virginia State champion and began training at Excalibur gymnastics.

In February of 1996, Gabby's family became homeless and lived in a van in a parking lot.
