Physical Advantages
Ancient Maya was located in the now Central America. The modern day countries that Ancient Maya was located in are Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.
Some physical advantages that the Mayans had were that they had a lot of water in all the seasons except Summer. They had a lot of rivers and streams so in Spring, Autumn, and Winter they had all the drinking water they needed.
Physical Alterations
The mayans changed the way they could grow crops on the mountains by carving stairs into the side and bringing up fertile soil from the river. What the Mayans did to clear the jungle was they burned a cut it down.
Geography and Climate
Though there was usually a drought in the Summer, Ancient Maya was in a rainforest and it had many rivers and streams. Some mountains included Doyle's Delight and Victoria's Peak. Some rivers were Maya River and a series of rivers called "The Rivers".
Physical Disadvantages
Some physical disadvantages that the Mayans had were the drylands in the Summer. In the Summer, there were droughts and not much water. In the Winter, it was cold. They also had mountains which were usually hard to climb and get over. It's also hard to grow food on the mountains. The soil wasn't fertile so it was even harder to grow crops. There were also a lot of jungles which also made it hard to grow crops because there was too much shade and the roots made it hard to plant things in the soil.
