In the evening, there was a play that was shown to the President and his soon-to-be assassin, John Wilkes Booth. Booth stood near
by as the play was going on, ready to strike on Lincoln. Then, Booth turned around and shot his gun. Lincoln's face fell to his lap as his wife was sitting there in awe. The whole theater was in astonishment as they witnessed the President of the United States assassination.
Throughout the chapter, the city had started a riot. People running and screaming, "The president got shot! The president got shot!"
John Wilkes Booth had soon started a journey to Virginia to keep himself out of trouble, basically in hiding.
