The chakichuma indians speak a mixture of chickasaw and chikichuma dialects. the closest relatives were the houma people who just recently seperated and do not speak the same dialect.
The chakchiuma indians went from 750 families in 1650 to 70 cabins. In 1699 the tribe shrank to 400 families and down graded to 50 cabins and welfare to 80. In 1722 they had shrank to 150 but by then most had joined the chickasaw.
the chakchiuma indians were located around the upper yazoo and lower Tallahatchie and Yalobusha Rivers. they were located between the choctaw and the chickasaw as far as the west point.
