Let's warm up before we begin our hike up Odyssey mountain!

1. Think of a fable, fairy tale, or other story you are familiar with enough to retell to your group members.

2. On a separate sheet of paper, make a list of the most important characters and actions or events within the story that will help guide you as you retell your tale.

The main character or protagonist is heroically larger than life, often the source and subject of legend or a national hero.

The hero's deeds or actions reveal his weaknesses as well as his strengths.

The action, often in battle, reveals the more-than-human strength of the hero as he/she engage in acts of heroism and courage.

The setting covers several nations, the whole world, or even the universe.

The episodes (i.e. sequels) even though they may be fictional, explain some events in the history of a nation or people.

The gods and lesser divine beings play an active role in the outcome of actions.

All of the various adventures relate one way or another to a central theme.
