Who Was Charles Darwin?

Charles began writing a paper about Natural Selection in 1842. Natural Selection is the process by which living things change over time due to a struggle to

survive.

After witnessing two painful

surgeries, Charles quit medical school in 1827.

In 1835, a stop at the Galapagos Islands teaches Charles that birds on different islands evolved differently over time.

In 1871, Darwin's most controversial book, "The Descent Of Man" was published. This book explained how humans had evolved just like other species.

Charles idea meant that humans were NOT SPECIAL; they had evolved too just like any other animal.

Darwin also concluded that humans evolved from apes.

In 1882, he died at the age of 73.

People came from all around the world to go to this funeral.

Charles Darwin has changed the way we think about living things FOR ETERNITY!

In 1859, Charles wrote a book On The Origin Of Species. It was a sensation!

Charles Darwin was

born on Feb. 12, 1809

in Shrewsbury, England.

As Charles grew up, he decided to attend

medical school in 1825.

While on the ship, he reads a book called "The Principles of Geology," which leads him to believe that Earth was formed over a long period of time.

In 1831, Charles and his friend, Professor Henslow, set sail on a trip around the world in the Beagle.
