Jake and Lily takes place on Meeker Street, a neighborhood in Colorado.

Jake and Lily are twins and have always been really close. Suddenly, Jake starts to hang out with a group of kids who call themselves the Death Rays, and Lily feels all alone. Lily becomes angry and finally realizes that it's time to take Poppy's advice and become more independent. In other words she has to become a social butterfly.

Bump is the imperious leader of the Death Rays. Bump has been bullying a kid in their neighborhood named Ernie. He is constantly calling him names and taking advantage of his kindness. Even though Jake knows bullying is wrong, he does nothing about it.

Lily meets a girl from the neighborhood named Sydney. The girls realize that they have a lot in common and become friends. Lily is finally learning to make friends and not depend on Jake so much.

Jake realizes that Bump is mean and selfish and does not hang out with him anymore.

Jake and Lily have both learned something unique about themselves, and have stronger bond and a closer relationship.

Jake and Lily is very funny and entertaining story about twins that are having trouble finding their own identity. After reading the story, I was inspired to be a leader, and to not always follow the crowd. I recommend this book to twins who are having a difficult time finding themselves. However, I think that other kids and adults will find Jake and Lily enjoyable.

The theme of Jake and Lily is bullying. Throughout the story, Bump, the leader of the Death Rays, bullies Ernie.

Independence is also a theme, because Jake and Lily struggle to make news friends and become more independent from each other.
