- 19th century : 52 different newspapers in London
- 20th appearance and competition with the radio + TV
Evolution : 20th : dvlpt of "press barons" ; newspapers still very important in british life (maybe more than in France)
Two categories :
- the more conservative and political newspapers : broadsheets, "the quality press",
- less serious newspapers : tabloids, "the popular press".
