THE BIG STICK POLICY

In that he made reference to 'Speak softly and carry a big stick.' Basically it meant that we could try to have peaceful negotiations however we needed to be prepared to back this up, hence the big stick policy.

The big stick policy is about the U.S. President Theodore foreign policy. The Dominican Republic felt the big stick first.
