We already know how these religions work.

The Origins of Buddhism

It has it's origins about 2,500 years ago when an Indian man Siddartha Gotama, AKA Buddha, became enlightened.

Buddhism is more of a philosophy for life, or "Way of Life."

Buddhists focus on enlightening one self.

Seeking Nirvana through the Noble Eight Fold Path.

The Buddhists must know the Four Noble Truths before the Noble Eight-fold path.

Ultimately, the Way of Life

is leading a moral life, to be mindful and aware of our thoughts and actions, and to develop wisdom and understanding.

And so, this is how Japan is with it's Religions mixed.

Shinto: The Way of the Gods

Shinto is a mythology and animistic like belief.

In Japan, they have public shrines for these Deities.

There are several festivals and ceremonies dealing with Shinto. The belief is basicly a respect for nature.

But seriously!

The sad truth is religion has become just tradition ever since the end of WWII when Hirohito told the Japanese people he was not a god and just man. The people were heart broken and forsaken after that.

Here are some examples how it is just culture and tradition.

Japanese people go through life visiting cathedrals, churches, shrines and temples on religious holidays in keeping with traditions.

Death and Funerals:

91% of funeral ceremonies are Buddhist/Shinto.

The body traditionally dressed in a pure white kimono and with a white head band. The White Kimono, called "Kyokatabira", symbolizes purity. The head band, "Tenkan", means Heaven's Crown. It is speculated that the two purposes of "Tenkan" are to show that the person has went to a higher level or heaven and the sharp point will drive evil spirits away. Items of special significance are placed into the casket with the deceased person, such as candy and cigarettes.

Then the deceased person will be cremated.

Marriage in Japan:

Styles of weddings in Japan include traditional. Western and mixed. Strictly traditional ceremonies are in the minority.

History of Japan

Bakumatsu Era

Shinsengumi "The Newly Selected Corp."

Hitokiri "Man Slayer"

Ieyasu Tokugawa was shogun till he died and the monarchy of Shoguns continued...... until the Bakumatsu.

Ieyasu Tokugawa was the man to unify Japan and become Shogun.

The Bakumatsu is period of stress where Japan transitioned from the feudal shogunate government to the Meiji government. There became a division in the people, the two sides were Ishin Shishi pro-imperial nationalists and the Shogunate forces which eventually led to the Boshin War.

It became bloody and chaotic time with Shogunate's Shinsengumi and the Ishin Shishi turning towards the Hitokiri to do their dirty work.

The 21 Daimyo battled till there was one standing and ruling Japan as Shogun.

The Four Hitokiri: Kawakami Gensai, Kirino Toshiaki, Tanaka Shinbei, Okada Izo.

This was a title given to Four Samurai of Bakumatsu period. They greatly rebelled against the Tokugawa Shogunate and eventually became loyal to Emperor. Hitokiri opposed the Tokugawa Shogunate with the Ishin Shishi Nationalists by assassinating politicians and eliminating an enormous number of Samurai.

The Shinsengumi were basicly an elite Samurai Police Force. If they heard word of a secret meeting of the resistance, the Shinsengumi would find the meeting place and kill every last one of the Ishin Shishi rebels.

March 31st, 1854

Commodore Matthew Perry came to Japan "asked" the japanese to open their doors to trade.

Japan could not retain their isolation policy because they weren't in any position to defend themselves.

Japan finally gave in and agreed so they signed the treaty for trading.

Commodore Perry

in 1868 Choshu and Satsuma forces went to Kyoto and persuaded the Emperor to declare full restoration of power. Tokugawa Yoshinobu assembled his shogunate army outside of Kyoto to stop the Emperor which started the bloody civil war the Boshin War. The Imperial forces eliminated the Shogunate forces and claimed Japan to be the Emperors.

Especially in Anime..

Now Commodore Perry has the mental illness of having the need to open things.

This is the country of Japan!

Tokyo is the capital of Japan.

Sadly, this all I can go over today.

I hate to break this to the apple fans, but the japanese flip phones could do almost everything the iPhones could do today. The japanese phones were incredibly advanced. The time when iPhones came to Japan, the japanese were just excited about a touch screen.

The Strange technology

Japan created the Honda robot, the Shinkansen bullet train, and these robotic legs that make the lame walk again.

Maybe eventually some day they'll make one of these with future technology
