Making Blankets

At the age of 12, Charlie started making no sew blankets. Her first one she ever made was from a kit. She invited other sixth grade friends to help make blankets. She and her friends had made 50 blankets. The first box went to Egypt.

How it all started

Charlie Coons noticed there was problem with poverty, global poverty, human rights, and education inequalities. Charlie came up with the idea of making blankets for the children after her older brother David had volunteered at the orphanage and had first hand experience. She made blankets so it reminds the kids that they are not forgotten.

The creation of H.E.L.P

Charlie Coons created H.E.L.P. It was founded in 2008. H.E.L.P means hope, encouragement, love, and peace. Together they have made 700 blankets and sent them to nine different nations. Some of the places they send blankets to are Egypt, Jordan, Rwanda, Gaza, Honduras, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

How we can help

There are a couple ways we can help Charlie and the children. We can donate money because each blanket costs 10 to 1 dollars each. We can also volunteer. We can volunteer to make blankets for the children.
