Enlightenment in Rococo art
Summary
- Rococo art can be described as colorful and realistic. From the graceful works of Watteau to the freely illustrated paintings of Fragonard, the different type of styles and textures of these types of paintings are still being studied today.

Furniture and Architecture design
- His art was heavily influenced by Watteau but they moved beyond the confines of pleasant scenery towards erotic imagery.
- Most famous for depicting mythological scenes with eroticism and the painting of King Louis XV mistress in Marquise De Pompadour.
Rococo furniture and architecture was defined by a move away from teh austere religious symmetrical designs of the Baroque. Instead, they focused on secular, more light- heated, asymmetrical design while continuing the Baroque penchant for decorative flair.

- Characterized by graceful, enchanting, lighthearted themes of flirting and melancholic love among the aristocracy.
- Sentiment was expressed over reason.
- Emotionalism over intellect.
- In 1715, King Louis XIV of France changed the prospective on art especially by introducing the Rococo movement.
- The court moved from Versailles back to the old Parisian mansions redecorating by using softer designs and modest material then what the king liked such as precious metals and rich colors.

- It was addressed the most important controversy of the time -color versus drawing- and combined the two to create beautiful pieces.
