Patrick Eugene Joseph Prendergast

  • Born April 18, 1868 Ireland
  • Family migrated to the US in 1871 (pg 58)
  • Died July 13, 1894 (aged 26) Chicago, Illinois
  • November 28, 1892 sends post card to A.S. Trude, lawyer (pg 183 )
  • May 9, 1893 sends posy card to W.F. Cooling Staats-Zeitung Building (pg 246)
  • October 1893 visits City Hall to see "his future office" (pg 317)
  • October 28. 1893 Prendergast purchases and loads a firearm for "precautions."
  • Later that day Prendergast Assassins Mayor Carter Harrison, because he betrayed his confidence and didn't live up to his word, casually walks over to the police station and says "Lock me up, I killed the Mayor" pg (328-331)
  • December 1893 Prendergast stood in trial and was ordered guilty and sentenced to execution (pg 382)
  • July 3, 1894 Prendergast was executed

"Elsewhere in the city, Patrick Prendergast grieved. Harrison was his hero, his hope. The margin was so narrow, however, that he believed that if Harrison ran again, he would win. Prendergast resolved to double his own efforts to help Harrison succeed. (pg 103)
